There can be very few people who’ve never heard of the world-famous Rio Carnival in Brazil. This year the magnificent musical festival in the coastal city will take place between 28th February and 4th March.
The event has been especially marked this year by the publication of an exciting new book celebrating the history and heritage of the Carnival. The book is entitled ‘Blocos de Rua do Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro’ (The street blocks ( local entries) of the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro).

Altogether the book includes thirty accounts over 220 pages of different experiences of the event and is compiled by Aydano Motta, who hails from Niteroi. He explained that the visual effects of the photos are every bit as effective as the text.

The book is selling quickly already following its launch last week in ‘Argumento do Leblon’ Bookshop on Rua Dias Ferreira in Rio
