Despite having the most expensive iPhone in the world, with high import taxes pushing the price to a whopping $1,169, the demand of Brazilians for smartphones and other electronic consumer devices is almost insatiable.

This week, there has been great excitement in Rio de Janeiro as the first physical Apple store in Latin America opens its doors tomorrow (Saturday).  Located in the VillageMall shopping centre, in the affluent Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood of the city, the store will have the exceptionally long opening hours of 10am-11pm from Monday to Saturday and 1am-9pm on Sundays.

The main room will have 140 devices including Mac Desktops, iPads and iPhones available for tests whilst the back of the store will have a Genius Bar tech support centre, which is already taking bookings. – See more at:
